Between 21 and 24 August 2024, Bratislava convened leading finance experts for the 51st Annual Meeting of the European Finance Association. The event took place in Reduta, the official seat of the Slovak Philharmonic and the iconic Radisson Blu Carlton hotel. The programme included 81 sessions and a keynote presentation by Douglas Diamond, the 2022 Nobel laureate.

The EFA 2024 Annual Meeting offered four sessions in collaboration with the Bank for International Settlements, the European Central Bank, the National Bank of Slovakia, and the Norges Bank Investment Management. Alongside educational presentations, the attendees could enjoy plentiful networking opportunities at the Reduta, Bratislava Castle and the New Building of the Slovak National Theatre.

The attendees could choose between several educational tracks. They included Asset Pricing, Climate Finance, Corporate Finance, Financial Intermediation, Household Finance and Market Microstructure.

Supporting PhD Students with grants

The EFA also awarded travel grants to select PhD Students attending the EFA Annual Meeting in Bratislava. The purpose of this grant is to support PhD Students by enhancing their opportunities to advance their research and their careers. EFA President Albert J. Menkveld welcomed the doctoral candidates to the Annual Meeting in the Reduta Columned Hall.
