The ČSOB Bratislava Marathon returned in its classic form
ČSOB Bratislava Marathon once again took place in classic form
The Bratislava Marathon returned to the format it had been waiting for since 7 April 2019. The organisers this year prepared nine disciplines, with the main program comprising a marathon and half marathon. Saturday’s program started with a ski race, followed by the children’s runs on the 300, 600 and 800 m tracks. The day culminated at 4 pm with the 10 km race.
In compliance with the current decree of the Public Health Office (ÚVZ) of 12 August, the maximum number of participants was 5000. Consequently, start numbers were issued in OTP mode – a fully vaccinated person, a person able to prove a negative RT-PCR test not older than 72 hours (or antigen test not older than 48 hours) or to a person who overcame COVID-19 disease no more than 180 days before the start of the race.
After a one-year break and despite various complications, almost 3,000 runners (250 of them coming from abroad) attended the ČSOB Bratislava Marathon, the most popular being the half marathon with 1,051 entries.
The Slovak city marathon also included the Slovak half-marathon championships. The half-marathon took place for the seventh time within the ČSOB Bratislava Marathon. The ČSOB Bratislava Marathon proved to event organisers that even mass events can once again take place safely in Slovakia’s capital.
