Extremely Close and Exceptionally Smart Fam Trip

Bratislava Convention Bureau together with partners is regularly hosting educationals for meeting planners from Europe. The upcoming October edition is about to happen in a few days, but here are couple of highlights from the last one in August. Ten incentive agencies from Europe and Russia were exploring what our quickly developing European capital has to offer.

Ten incentive agencies representatives from Sweden, UK, Belgium, Denmark, Holland, Norway and Russia gathered in Slovak capital on 15th of August on a terrace of an exceptional hotel Grand Hotel River Park, a Luxury Collection Hotel, Bratislava. After the welcome drink on a terrace of the hotel, overlooking three countries the company had a “meet the team” dinner in the amazing Wiegerova Villa, located at the foots of the Small Carpathians, only 15 kilometres from Bratislava Old town.

DAY 2 – THE WILD AND THE ART SIDE OF BRATISLAVA

Areal Divoka Voda is a great outdoor venue where you can organize an event, a conference or a congress with a water sport touch. The group enjoyed an early morning thrill of the ride at a rafting experience in the unique white-water canal located on the river Danube. At areal Divoka Voda you can spice up your MICE event with more or fewer adrenaline sports, from rafting, kayaking, hydrospeed, surfing, riding the jet ski or motorboats, wakeboarding, water skiing, walking on water in an aquaroller, to the more dry sports like archery, ride on quads, paintball, beach volley or football.

For a bit more of adrenalin the ride with the speed boat on the smooth waters of the Danube was on schedule. But before that, a quick artistic inspiration at the wonderfull Danubiana took place. Danubiana is a museum of modern and contemporary art close to Bratislava and located on a peninsula surrounded by nature and the river Danube. Danubiana exhibits many artworks from Slovak artists, as well as international artists from all around the world.

After a guided tour at the Danubiana, the speed boat ride followed. Mixing adrenaline with art get you hungry, so the group headed to a much deserved relaxing summer lunch in the Bratislava largest conference hotel – Crown Plaza Hotel.

In the heart of the historical Old Town of Bratislava, opposite to the Presidential Palace, proudly stands the Crowne Plaza Hotel. This first class hotel was the first governmental hotel in Slovakia, and combines the best central location with comfortable accommodation, modern conference facilities and superb cuisine.

And after the food spoils a nice walk through this boutique and intimate capital with a deep imperial heritage and a ride with authentic Prešporáčik® Oldtimer took place. Prešporáčik® Oldtimers are georgeous looking, ecological (running on gas) vehicles that were designed to run through the narrowest streets of the Old town and with years became the icon of Bratislava.

Of course a cup of coffee was needed to embrace all that was experienced. Hand-crafted coffee at the Slovak Guggenheim gallery – the Nedbalka Gallery. The gallery displays artworks of Slovak modern art and therefore the whole concept is linked to localism, making it an important part of Slovak history. When hosting an event at Nedbalka make sure to reserve a guided tour with one of their custodians to discuss the artworks exhibited at the gallery.

To close up the day an exquisite showcase of contemporary Slovak gastronomy was organised at the historical Mozart House where a place ideal for tailored unforgettable events of any occasion is located.

DAY 3 – IT’S ABOUT THE WINE

In the near close of Bratislava there are wineyards, wine cellars, wine museums, wine-making, wine-consuming, wine-tasting venues and fascilities. Some have centuries of intriguing history hidden in the walls, some are modern others rural, but all of them impressive for the wine lovers.

Day 3 of the 2019 fam trip was dedicated to experiencing the Slovak viniculture right from the early morning. The group first visited the Small Carpathian Museum in Pezinok currently presents two permanent exhibitions – ‘Wine Story’ and ‘History of Wine Growing and Viniculture below the Little Carpathians’ and three unique experiences of Wine tasting for your group.

Next stop was at The Stone that protects the vineyards where moden architecture is in line with rural charm and great wines of the Elesko Wine park, where the group visited Zoya museum.  The museum was opened in 2009 and is the younger sister of Zoya Gallery located in Bratislava, and is a part of a newly built winery – Elesko Wine Park, whose architecture was awarded the award – Building of the year 2010. The museum programme is focused on the Slovak art after the second half of the 20th century, and also World art from abroad. And the most famous is the permanent exhibition of collection of Andy Warhol works.

Last stop of this years fam trip was the Palace Art Hotel in Pezinok. The beautifully preserved and renovated chateau was transformed to a boutique hotel, event venue and the home of Zámocké vinárstvo. The Chateau with a rich history is hidding mysterious Wine cellars and a legendary, charming event venue – The Katharina Palffy Golden Hall.

Full of memorable experiences the group ended the three day programme of Bratislava fam trip 2019. Bratislava has proven itself as a city with numerous exciting and unforgetful venues and activities. The Extremely close and Exceptionaly smart city proved that it is a destination worth to be discovered by even the most demanding international event organizers.
