Bratislava’s largest venues for concerts and sports events
The Slovakian capital prides itself on state-of-the-art venues for large gatherings
TIPOS Arena
The TIPOS Arena that pays homage to Ondrej Nepela, the Slovak Olympic champion in figure skating, is among the city’s most loved. The winter hockey stadium serves as the home arena for the HC Slovan Bratislava ice hockey team. Throughout its storied history, the arena underwent numerous revamps. The arena can capacitate up to 10,055 spectators for ice hockey games and 10,200 for concerts.
Iconic sports architecture – GoPass Arena
The most unique design among Bratislava’s sports venues belongs to the legendary GoPass Arena. The National Basketball Center pairs distinct architecture with social spaces. The construction replicates its American double, the Paraboleum Exhibition Hall in Raleigh, constructed in 1953. Based on the same principles, Slovak architect Jozef Chovanec and structural engineer Jozef Poštulk created the National Basketball Center in 1962.
As part of its reconstruction, the original purpose of the building has been preserved but adapted to the current demands for sports and social events. The functionality of the hall will continue to focus on basketball and other indoor sports. More importantly, the venue now serves as a space for locals to convene. The venue can host concerts, parties and conferences with a capacity of 4,500 participants. It is tucked away in the Pasienky urban district, famed as the main sports hub in Bratislava.
National Football Stadium
The largest among Bratislava’s stadiums is the National Football Stadium, hailed as one of the most modern and technologically advanced stadiums in Central Europe. It offers maximum comfort and an incredible experience for spectators of football matches or participants of cultural events. The stadium is home to the football club ŠK Slovan Bratislava and is the pride of the residents in Bratislava and Slovakia. The venue was built in 2019, and due to its architectural uniqueness, it became the choice of numerous international event organisers.
The stadium is suitable for organising cultural and business events and concerts. Conferences for up to 2,000 people can easily be hosted in the halls of Slovakia’s biggest stadium. As well as being the most modern football stadium in Slovakia, it is also sustainable and environment-friendly. Almost 50% of the heating system for the stadium and its green pitch comes from renewable sources.
