Rudavsky’s Magic Garden
The unusual sculpture garden, which witnessed the meetings of the artistic legends of the Galanda Group, will today show you the works of two generations of artists in its corners.
*The garden is closed during the winter. Thank you for your understanding.
This magical place was created in the 60s of the last century on the outskirts of Bratislava in the Podunajské Biskupice district, from the talent and passion for art of Andrej and Mária Rudavský, who were among the most outstanding personalities of the visual arts of their generation.
The unusual sculpture garden can be compared to world-famous artistic exteriors such as Chandigarh, Le Corbusier’s modernist architectural utopia in India, Tarot’s garden in Tuscany, Gaudi’s Park Guell, Edward James Laz Pozas in Xilitla, Mexico, Witches’ Mountain near Juodkrant in Lithuania, Little Sparta – the rope garden Hamilton Finlay in Dunsire, Scotland, Ilana Goor museum in Tel Aviv-Yafo, Israel.
The visit is possible by reservation with a recommended entrance fee of 10 Euros.
In the Magic Garden, legends of visual arts from the Galand family met, but also personalities from other artistic genres, actors, directors, writers, musicians. Despite the displeasure of the communist regime, the garden grew and Genius loci never left it.
Sculptures, textiles, paintings, objects, and especially heart, freedom and timelessness, Mária and Andrej Rudavskí left all that here in their works. Their son, today a world-renowned artist, multimedia artist Ondrej Rudavsky, continues this amazing journey. After his return to Slovakia, the Magic garden received a new spirit.
Generations intermingle and the tradition remains. Magic garden is an intensive asylum for artistic souls. She guided dozens of artists to a successful artistic career. Ondrej continues the legacy of Andrej and Mária together with his wife Jacqueline and daughter Tereza. Together, they make a huge effort to gradually and sensitively improve the Magic garden.
The garden is constantly expanding and provides more and more space for experiencing works of art. Another gallery of the second generation with paintings, sculptures and objects by Ondrej Rudavsky and original jewelry by Jacqueline Rudavsky grew up in the rear part.
