Botanical Gardens
The Botanical Gardens, part of the Bratislava’s Comenius University but open to the public, were founded in 1942.
Covering an area of 5.5 hectares close to the Danube River, the gardens feature collections of both coniferous and deciduous trees, perennial plants, azaleas and rhododendrons, alpine vegetation, and winter- and frost-resistant cacti. The on-site greenhouses contain tropical and sub-tropical plants, a collection of cacti and succulents, orchids, bromeliads and tillandsias, ficuses and ferns, palms, cycads, araucarias, Australian flora, and tropical ornamental plants. Guides are available upon request.
