Slovak National Theater
Slovak National Theater, one of the most important cultural institutions in Slovakia, began its history in 1920. Today’s Slovak National Theater consists of three institutions with a permanent professional ensemble: Drama, Opera and Ballet. Theater sets for all three institutions are made in the SNT’s Art and Decorative Workshops.
The ensembles of the Slovak National Theater can be seen in two theater buildings, the Historical Building of the Slovak National Theater, which is located on Hviezdoslav Square and the new building of the Slovak National Theater. The Slovak National Theater is a repertory theater.
Performances on all scenes of the Slovak National Theater are held during the theater season almost every day (opera and ballet), or every day except Monday (drama). The theater season lasts from early September until the end of June.
