Wake Uup for ÚĽUV Craftsmen Days

Traditional crafts and folk culture in a big city? In Bratislava, yes!

On the first weekend of September, the streets of Bratislava’s Old Town will host the biggest urban festival of folk culture and craftsmanship for the 32nd time. You will find it on Hviezdoslav Square, Rybné Square and Panská Street.

Traditional crafts and homemade products, which are the main attraction of the festival, will be presented by the craftsmen through direct demonstrations and you’ll be taken back to the rich history of Slovak crafts.

This year’s main motif is the wood as a material and the Toy of Kyjatice. In the pedestrian zone of the Old Town you will see craftsmen from all over Slovakia performing traditional crafts, in the gazebo on Hviezdoslav Square you will see a cultural programme. Families with children can look forward to the popular School of Crafts and there will also be traditional dishes of Slovak cuisine.

The largest festival of traditional crafts organised by The Centre For Folk Art Production (ÚĽUV) is part of the Bratislava Cultural Summer. Make yourself happy and come on September 3 and 4 to admire the skill of the masters of your craft in the streets of the big city.

ÚĽUV Craftsmen Days are very popular among the youngest as well, so if you’re planning to visit Bratislava with your children, it’s definitely worth taking a trip to the Slovak capital during this period.
