The night sky above Devín Castle

Ever wished to explore the universe through a professional telescope?

Join us on Friday, February 16, at 5:30 p.m., at the grounds of Devín Castle, in collaboration with experts from the Slovak Association of Astronomers. Guided by their interpretation and assistance, you’ll have the chance to observe the night sky and direct the telescope towards celestial bodies like Jupiter, the Moon, binary stars, as well as distant wonders such as galaxies and nebulae.

Participants are required to bring their own lamp, flashlight, or headlamp with a red light function to the event.

Here are additional details and recommendations:

  • Dress warmly and wear suitable footwear as the event will be held outdoors at Devín Castle. In the winter months and after dark, the temperature might feel low.
  • For an optimal viewing experience, utilize only red light throughout the event to avoid disrupting the eye’s dark adaptation. After exposure to white light, it takes at least 20 minutes for the eye to readjust to the dark!
  • If you don’t have a lamp with red light, cover a regular flashlight with red cellophane, red foil, or red cloth.

The event is conducted in collaboration with the Slovak Association of Astronomers. In the event of unfavorable weather conditions, there might be a change in the date. Stay informed through the websites hraddevin.mmb.sk and mmb.sk or our social media channels.

The event is suitable for children aged 6 and above.

Admission fee: €5.00. Tickets are available at the Devín Castle ticket office, the Old Town Hall ticket office, or on GoOut.net.
