Prologue. 12 Colours of Reality
To guide you through new premises of reconstructed Slovak National Gallery, 12 unique exhibition experiences are prepared
You will have the opportunity to view works of old masters, modern art, and contemporary art in various, often surprising, interplays of relationships and dialogues. In an unconventional combination of works from different periods, gallerists have taken a retrospective of the gallery’s acquisitions over the past 30 years and showcased SNG collections in all their diversity.
The magnitude of the installations will also give you a sense of the upcoming permanent exhibitions that will gradually be introduced from 2023.
At the exhibition, curators Dušan Buran and Lucia Gregorová Stach present artworks of these featured artists: Albrecht Dürer, Pavol Gross Sr., Gerard G. Bouttats, Johann Melchior Füssli, Jan Luyken, Ján Kupecký, Ladislav Mednyánszky, Peter M. Bohúň, Jozef Hanula, Ester Šimerová Martinčeková, Juraj Meliš, Stano Filko, Jana Želibská, Emőke Vargová, Pavla Sceranková, Vladimír Kordoš, Štefan Papčo, Michal Moravčík, Ján Zelinka, Radovan Čerevka, Martin Kollar, Robert Bielik, András Cséfalvay, Andrej Dúbravský and other, predominantly anonymous, authors from the past.
