Main Christmas Market
The atmosphere of the most popular holidays will reign in Bratislava already at the end of November, the Main Christmas Market opens on 22 November.
Bratislava will be decorated with festive lights, dozens of stalls in the Main Square and a cultural scene in Franciscan Square. An unmistakable sign that Christmas is coming to the capital.
You can look forward to a varied offer of Christmas specialities, traditional Slovak and international cuisine, a large selection of Christmas gifts, as well as themed entertainment. Every week from Thursday to Sunday, you will enjoy a rich cultural programme at the Franciscan Square.
As in every city, you will find especially local specialities to please your taste buds. The choice is wide – there will be plenty of savoury and sweet delicacies on the market. Try, for example, lokše, goose meat, gypsy roast, potato pancakes, strudel, mulled wine, mead or punch.
Food and drinks can be found in the Christmas stalls in the Main Square and good entertainment in the Franciscan Square, where there will be a stage with an accompanying programme. Don’t miss the stalls of non-profit and cultural organisations operating in the capital.
The concept of the Christmas markets focuses on quality, ecological, safe, but also visually appealing experiences with an accompanying cultural programme. The Christmas markets will contribute to the festive atmosphere in the capital from 22 November to 6 January.
At the Main Christmas Market it will be possible to pay by credit card, use compostable dishes and returnable jars. There are two sorting stations with all the necessary information for responsible sorting. Trained staff will also be available to help with the correct segregation of rubbish.
You can visit the markets from 10am to 10pm. You’ll find the nonprofit organization’s donation booths open from 10 am to 8 pm. The Christmas markets will be closed on December 24-26 due to the state holiday.
