FireWork
Simona Janišová’s exhibition at Station Gallery is a continuation of a series of works and exhibitions dedicated to the theme of the element of fire in connection with ceramic working processes. The FireWork exhibition talks about works made of fire, but also about the fireworks of “ideas”.
Clay and glaze are shaped not only by the artist, but also by fire and heat, which can crack or deform the material. Working with clay is a lifelong journey — not mass production, but an open-ended exploration.
Janišová moves freely between design, small-scale production, and personal sculptural work. Her drawings often spark a new clay series, yet the process of modeling and firing may shift the final outcome, resulting in deeply personal pieces.
One of the earliest works, Rose Gold Bowl, contains melted gold from a beloved person’s chain, turning the inside pink — a symbolic gesture of memory and connection.
The majority of works are built using the coil technique, forming large, hollow figures or heads. Some are eerie, others delicate, resembling flames — a tribute to the fire that both creates and transforms.
