Extase
The new project of Klaudia Korbelič and Lenka L. Lukačovičová inspired by the key motif of the eponymous film
In the dialogue, the authors repeatedly return to the topic of nudity, which they freely interpret in terms of art. This creates objects, collages or photo objects.
The exhibition Extase is loosely inspired by the Czech film directed by Gustav Machaty with the same title from 1932, which was one of the first of its kind to attract attention with its artistic values and at the same time provoked contradictory reactions with scenes with a naked representative in natural environments.
The second motivation in the creation of the exhibition is the archive – own and found, which we often get/find in physical or digital form and do not pay attention to it. However, it can be full of “extase”, inspiration, exoticism, desire, passion, natural motives as well as nudity or eroticism.
The interest in this topic stems from the previous cooperation of the authors, who presented themselves in the form of site specific installations with fictitious enviroments, permanently temporary gardens with rare flora in Pragovka in Prague in 2022, or at the festival of contemporary art DOM in Bratislava in 2021.
For the “Extase” exhibition at the Station Contemporary Art Gallery, a series of new works were created, ingeniously transformed into objects, paintings, collages and post Internet photographs. They both approach the common theme with authenticity, but they continue to engage in a common dialogue.
