Battle of Bratislava
October 1 will be the day when annual re-enactement of Battle for Bratislava will take place in famous Bratislava city park
The main part of its programme will bring the reconstruction of the real military conflict from the first half of the 17th century, set in the historical environment of Hungary.
In the seventh edition, you will again move in time – in a reconstruction of the battle, or a short siege, which took place in front of the city gates in October 1620. At that time, weapons clanged repeatedly in front of the Hungarian coronation city. In 1619, it was first conquered by the rebellious Prince of Transylvania, Gabriel Bethlen, and this time the imperial army will unsuccessfully attempt to conquer it.
Baroque battle in Pressburg comes this year again with historical camp, presentation of the daily camp life in 17th century, presentation of the regiments, a parade trough the Old City and of course the Battle of Bratislava – reenactment of a military encounter that took place on 8th of October 1620.
Bohemian revolt was slowly coming to its end, uprising of Gabriel Bethlen was also weakening at the time. Bratislava – Pressburg is however still in hands of Bethlen’s men. Come over to recall history and enjoy a reenactment of a skirmish from 1620.
The festival under the direction of the historical fencing group Banderium and the Manu Forti group will be opened by the cannon salvo at 10 a.m. You can then visit the camp with period crafts, enjoy the passing period costume procession of performers through the Old Town at 1 p.m. and from 4 p.m. look forward to the reconstruction of the siege, which took place in front of the city gates.
