Peter Uchnár – Laputa (Illustrations from the book Gulliver’s travels)

The Laputa exhibition is the completion of the artist’s work dedicated to the three hundredth anniversary of Jonathan Swift’s fantasy novel Gulliver’s Travels. The exhibited works were created for the latest edition of the book (Slovart, 2023) from Uchnár’s illustrations from 1998. More than fifty full-page pictures of the new edition were created from the original acrylic paintings using digital collage and newly painted parts.

Hermann Nitsch – Homage to the Colours

Hermann Nitsch was known for his interdisciplinary practice that encompassed performance, painting, musical composition, and more. Having trained at Vienna’s Graphische Lehr- und Versuchsanstalt in the 1950s, the artist became a pioneer of the city’s avant-garde scene in the 60s and 70s, staging radical and controversial performances as part of the Viennese Actionism movement. Curators: Sammlung Werner Trenker and Nitsch Foundation.

Jarmila Sabová Džuppová and Jarmila Mitríková will present for the first time their joint exhibition at the DOT.Contemporary Gallery in the Jurkovič’s heating plant. Generationally related, the artists work in different media (Džuppová in painting, Mitríková currently mainly in ceramics). Each has her own recognizable and mutually unmistakable handwriting. However, they are united by a focus on personal experience, which they process through various more or less universal symbols.
