Let’s Talk Gisela Weyde!
The November guided tour in English will be dedicated to the exhibition „Gisela Weyde. From Athena to Hera“.
Gisela Leweke-Weyde was an art historian, painter, graphic artist, archaeologist, publicist and restorer. She has merits in the field of interwar visual arts and several firsts belong to her in other areas as well. She was the first woman to receive a doctorate in classical archeology from the University of Vienna in 1921. As the first woman from 1923, she worked as an (assistant) custodian at the City Museum in Bratislava. Her professional activity is significant due to several firsts, which will be discussed during the guided tour.
