Celebrating St. Martin’s Day with Young Wine Festival
Guests visiting Bratislava can celebrate St. Martin’s Day with locals in the historic city centre. In addition to good wine, guests can expect a rich music programme, guided tours and a quiz on winemaking and cuisine. Winemakers from the Devín, Vajnor and Rača wine associations will present their products at St. George’s Courtyard, the gastro zone boasting autumn specialities. Vegans can expect savoury dishes at the J. Nepomuk Courtyard of the Primate’s Palace.
The celebrations honouring St. Martin date to the Austro-Hungarian Empire, where they nurtured and respected wine tradition. On 11 November, the first wines of the year’s harvest are tasted every year. The tradition is common in Austria and the Czech Republic, too. The young wines will be blessed on the first day of the festival by the Archbishop of Bratislava, Stanislav Zvolenský.
Folklore music and wine shops will delight guests interested in exploring the country’s culture and products. Not least, concerts across the city will enrich the happenings in the Slovakian capital.
Wine in the Old Market Hall
On 24 November, the Old Market in Bratislava will host the winter edition of the summer wine and music festival named Wine in the Market. In its second edition, the event will feature young wines from some of Slovakia’s best wine-growing regions. Guests can expect quality wines paired with authentic dishes at the Old Market in the centre of Bratislava.
