Hospitable winemakers, excellent wines and beautiful landscape
From 20 – 21 May, guests coming to Bratislava and its region have the opportunity to taste Slovakian wines in an authentic environment at the event „Otvorené pivnice na sv. Urbana“. More than 100 winegrowers in this region produce world-class wines, each following a tradition dating from Roman times.
Numerous wine producers are part of the Little Carpathian Wine Route, the oldest wine route in Slovakia, developed in 1995. These wine producers have aimed to foster the development of the Small Carpathian region, especially in tourism connected to its winemaking traditions.
Lovers of nature, folk culture and quality wine can use Bratislava as a base, moving up into the eastern foothills of the region. The route passes along the sunny slopes of the Little Carpathians and through its fertile vineyards (measuring around 4,000 hectares) and wine cellars.
Wine tastings in May and November
Winemakers whose wine cellars are situated along the Little Carpathians will open their cellars at the most beautiful time of the year. The event in May will be an opportunity to taste wines in 121 wine cellars! If you will miss the May event, there will be another opportunity to taste the freshly made wine. From 18 – 19 November 2022 you are welcome to „Deň otvorených pivníc“
Some Slovakian wine cellars are open year after year, and some will be added this year. This year’s edition will feature pop-up venues where the winemakers will serve their wines. The experience of this event cannot be bought in any shop with a bottle of wine. Guests from far and near are invited to come to the wine route year after year.
Great wines of the Little Carpathians from the year 2021, excellent homemade culinary delicacies, authentic music right in the cellars and art exhibitions – this is what awaits the guests of this tour. Two days of great wines and pleasant experiences in the flourishing Little Carpathians region await attendees. Where can you taste wines? In Bratislava city parts as Devín, Rača and Vajnory as well as in small cities and villages in the Bratislava region as Svätý Jur, Limbach, Pezinok, Modra, Šenkvice … the last / or first / is Doľany.
The ticket for this unique tasting experience includes a map that guides guests to the cellars. In November, the winemakers once more invite wine lovers to taste their wines over two days.
