The streets of Bratislava will again shine tomorrow, marking the start of winter celebrations in the Slovakian capital. Although snow is rare in Bratislava in December, the Christmas mood remains jolly. The Christmas decorations are immensely popular in the evenings, while the Christmas Market and the accompanying programme will enrich the Advent season after a few years’ break.
For many years, the Christmas tree was synonymous with the Christmas colours of Bratislava. In old Bratislava, it was not only a symbol of Christmas but also of human fellowship. This year, the Main Square as well as Hviezdoslavove namestie will play host to the lively Christmas Market.
Christmas Concert in the Slovak Philarmonic
During four concerts in the renowned Slovak Philarmonic, there will be a number of songs that will evoke the Christmas atmosphere. There will be a mix of Christmas carols and the world-famous Silent Night, a composition without which one can no longer imagine the Christmas holidays.
The Concert Hall of the Slovak Philharmonic will come alive with advent magic between 18 and 21 December. Guests are invited to the timelessly beautiful premises of the Slovak Philharmonic and enjoy the music that will touch their hearts.
The Advent programme will also take place in the Klarisky Concert Hall during the whole Christmas period, and particular city districts plan on hosting their own Christmas markets and thematic programmes.
Visitors from far and near are invited to indulge in the pre-Christmas atmosphere in the capital of Slovakia, enjoy the overall festive ambience, and get ready for the most beautiful time of the year. Thus, those visiting will help contribute to the cosmopolitan and multicultural character of Bratislava as a city of peace and tolerance.
