Bratislava Coronation Days
Witness the coronations as they looked like during the most famous part of the history of the city. Another king will begin his reign in Pressburg.
For three days, Bratislava will once again come alive with spectacular celebrations in honour of the new monarch. This year marks the coronation of the minor Prince Joseph I in 1687.
👑 On Friday, enjoy a charming and thrilling performance of Renaissance Pictures, Precious Guests on the East Terrace of Bratislava Castle, where a guest from abroad and his entourage will visit Hungary.
The courtiers’ competition for the favour of the ladies and all the guests present will be full of fencing, dancing, lilting period music and poetry, as well as the sublime art of the hunt performed by the royal falconer. A herald will guide you through picturesque Renaissance scenes full of the joys and vicissitudes of court life.

👑On Saturday, you will be able to accompany the spectacular coronation parade in ornate historical costumes through the streets of Bratislava from Bratislava Castle. However, in the festive coronation procession you will also be able to catch a glimpse of its predecessors – symbolically, in the form of royal portraits, carried by nobles and warriors representing the periods of the individual monarchs.
In the procession led by flag bearers and drummers, besides the king and nobility, there will also be clergy, bearers of the royal insignia, falconers and numerous fencers and dancers who, upon arrival at the Main Square, will pay tribute to the newly crowned king and the spectators, in the form of a rich fencing, dancing and falconry programme.
